The Cal Committee Crew

Jonathon Mahoney
Co-Founder
Every Golden Bear has a unique path they took to Cal, and Jonathon was certainly no different. After attending Trinity College for two years, he was able to realize his dream of attending the University of California Berkeley.
From the moment Jonathon walked on campus he realized the culmination of his works came to bear fruit. He vigorously pursued a student-athlete career by walking on to the Men's Rowing team and completing his undergraduate degree in History. He maintained a 3.25 GPA while contributing to the team building efforts and leadership on and off the water. Upon graduation, he moved back east, to his hometown in Lexington Ma, near his beloved parents, Jack and Maria Mahoney.
As success continues to follow Jonathon, he tirelessly works to build the Cal Crew team, as well as the university as a whole. He sees how all of our communities, whether its undergrads working in technology, finance, entrepreneurship, or biotech, physics, and consulting one constant remain through all of these works; cal leadership and innovation in these fields. All of our alumni are contributing to building a better tomorrow. And Jonathon's hope is to help Cal alumni learn about and support each other, while simultaneously supporting and building themselves.
Justin Murphy
Co-Founder

Justin spent his childhood moving around following his Dad’s career as a foreign correspondent. After his mother’s death in High School, Justin faced challenges that almost pulled him from the path. However, from the support of his coach, family, friends, and community he was able to push through and earned an athletic scholarship to Cal.
While at Cal, Justin excelled on the water and in the classroom becoming an integral part of the Cal Community. Within the conference, he was named the PAC 12 Freshman in 2014 and PAC 12 Athlete of the Year in 2015. On the Cal Team he was elected Dean Witter twice, the first time since the 1930s someone has been elected twice, and upon graduation was awarded the Jake Gimbel Award. In addition to his athletic achievements, he was a writing tutor and studied history with a focus in Roman Grand Strategy and World War II tank doctrine.
Upon graduation Justin joined the US National Team Training Center and after a year decided to pivot his energy from rowing to his growing career. With the new time on his hands, he has wanted to focus on giving back to the communities that helped him come so far.
